Auburn’s Yi wins AJGA event

Sean Yi of Auburn, Washington, won his first AJGA event with a tournament total of 7-under-par 209 at the Yang Foundation Junior at Wood Ranch. In the Girls Division, Kailie Vongsaga of Diamond Bar, California, won her fourth AJGA event with a tournament total of 1-under-par 213 at Wood Ranch Golf Club.

Yi credited his tee shots for his bogey-free final round. After saving par on No. 17, the rising junior captured the lead when he birdied No. 18, winning by one stroke.

Brandon Brame of Anaheim Hills, California, finished in second at 6-under-par 210. Seldon Doyle of Thousand Oaks, California, came in third at 4-under-par 212. Taisei Negishi of San Diego, finished in fourth at 3-under-par 213. Issei Tanabe of Huntington Beach, California, and Alexander Pak of San Clemente, California, finished tied for fifth at 4-under-par 214.
