Idaho’s Grove wins the Oregon Open

It took overtime, but North Idaho College golf coach Russell Grove won the Pelzer Golf Oregon Open at Brasada Canyons in Central Oregon. Grove outlasted amateur Graham Moody in a five-hole playoff to win the tournament.

Grove put together rounds of 65-69-67 for a 201 total and 15 under par to win the tournament.

    Moody, an amateur from Royal Oaks Co Country Club in Vancouver, had led the tournament after two rounds shooting rounds of 65-67. He finished with a 69 in the final round to set up the playoff with Grove. The playoff ended on the fifth hole, allowing Grove to win the tournament for the first time since he claimed the title in 2017.

Casey King of Loophole Golf finished third at 204, Blake Snyder of PNW Golf Academy tied for fourth in the tournament with amateur Ty Anderson of Kalispel Golf Club at 206.         

A total of 192 players – professionals and amateurs – took part in this year’s tournament. Next up on the championship schedule is the Rosauers Invitational at Indian Canyon in Spokane July 19-21.
